This was my final GCSE art piece, haven't even got my results yet. It is based on the theme 'zig-zag' which was given by the examiner.

My interpretation of Zig-zag relates to the traditional artwork of the Samoan tattoo. Tatau. I think like the zig-zag the samoan tattoo is an ongoing tradition which will never end much like the infinitive pattern of the zig-zag. The tattoo tradition is passed down by skill (tattooist) but also to those who are Matai, chefs in their village, each Matai receives a traditional tattoo that represents their status and family genealogy. That is why i have an old chef, a middle aged father who is the tattooist and a young Samoan fascinated by the tattoo and what it beholds
